Paint and Pastels is a multi-media art group. The only medium we shy away from in the group is oils owing to the fact that oil paint and the solvents etc. used are not suitable for use in a general-purpose meeting hall.

We meet once a month in the SWF WI Hall.

We generally like to have a topic for each of our meetings. Examples could include:

• a medium (e.g. Pastels, Acrylics......)
• a drawing (e.g. Drawing, Caricatures)
• approaches (e.g. Blocking In)
• subject matter (e.g. Winter Scenes)
• exercises (e.g. Paining a subject that is upside down)

We also like to include one session in the summer when we meet up and work outdoors,

Although we like to have topics, members are also welcome to work on something of their own choice at our meetings. Perhaps to finish a piece they are working on.

We have a collective knowledge, and the aim is to share this with others in the group. Beginners and more experienced artists are all welcome in the group.

There is a small charge, collected periodically, to cover the hall hire. We also maintain a reserve of materials to share so that members can try a new medium before they buy their own.
